The afternoon at Machakos Town Technical and Vocational College was vibrant and full of purpose as we marked several major milestones in our campus calendar. From the halls of leadership to the fields of sports and the vital importance of health, it was a day dedicated to the growth of the whole student.
A New Chapter in Student Leadership
The highlights of the day began with the official Swearing-In Ceremony of the New Trainee Council. It was a proud moment as the new leaders took their oaths of office, ready to serve the student body with integrity.
We also took a moment to express our deepest gratitude to the Outgoing Trainee Council. Their dedication and service have laid a strong foundation for those following in their footsteps. Additionally, we celebrated our Sports Heroes, awarding those who showed outstanding performance and discipline in recent competitions.
Health and Wellness: Empowering Our Youth
In collaboration with Medical Practitioners from Kyangala Level 4 Hospital and Kola Health Centre, our trainees participated in a powerful and candid Guidance and Counseling session. The talk covered critical life topics including:
- 🩺 Health Awareness: STIs, HIV prevention, and Voluntary Testing.
- 🚫 Social Challenges: Combating Drug and Substance Abuse and Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
- 👫 Personal Growth: Navigating relationships and choosing healthy lifestyles.
- 📈 Career Progression: Aligning current health choices with future professional success.
In a generous show of support, the medics provided dewormers for all staff and trainees and equipped the Dean of Trainees with essential medical supplies for basic campus care.
